Born and raised in the Netherlands, Floris Smeets comes from a family of biologists. It has embedded a passion for nature in his DNA. “Growing up, I spent most of my time outside, looking for wildlife. From the age of eleven, I started to develop an interest in photography. My dad gave me his first mirror reflex camera for my twelfth birthday. With this camera, I learned how to photograph nature.
Photography and nature guiding are my full-time profession and passion. Norwegian nature is my playground. Here, I mainly focus on wildlife and landscapes. I greatly respect nature and always try to take pictures in a natural setting without disturbing the wildlife or altering the scene. With my images, I try to capture the beauty of nature in a moment that tells a story. I also try to focus on species that are not easy to photograph.”
