German photographer Alexandra Martinez lives in one of Europe’s most beautiful and biodiverse landscapes: the Camargue. Fascinated by its white horses and variety of birds, her work offers exclusive insights into the wildlife of this region. Her book about Camargue Horses will be out next year, and she is working on a second book about the various birds in the Camargue.
Alexandra: “I have carried the love of photography and nature with me since childhood. I grew up in the Eifel region in Germany, with a deep respect and honest affection for all living things. I discovered the Camargue in 2018 and was immediately attracted by the untamed beauty of the landscape and wildlife, especially the white horses and the multitude of birds. Every encounter with these marvellous creatures is an unforgettable experience for me.
I decided to combine my passion for photography and wildlife and started offering photography workshops. I aim to capture the Camargue’s natural beauty and spirit in my images. Deep respect and understanding of wildlife are essential to creating authentic images. As a passionate animal lover, I never jeopardize their welfare for a photo.
Bringing other people closer to the beauty of the Camargue makes me very proud. It is a great pleasure to share my passion with others and see my participants discover wildlife. My recent discovery of floating hide photography inspires me even more!”
