We have had so many vacuum-bottles and were so many times disappointed with the quality that we almost gave up. In a final trial to check out for the best, we transformed our kitchen into a lab and started simple (and very much not scientific) household-field-testing. We preheated all the bottles we had with boiling water for 10 minutes, then refilled them to the rim with fresh boiling water. We started taking measurements at a bit random intervals and were disappointed again by our old vacuum bottles. The new ones did it just a tad better. With the 3 best performing bottles we re-ran the test. And even the best bottles performed just so-so: after 19 hours the temperature had dropped to about 40ºC – which is the temperature where you decide not to drink the coffee anymore.
There was one contestant that surprised us in a positive way: The Shira bottles outperformed every other bottle we had avalable – new or old. It was if we did something wrong with our testing. The drop in temperature looked suspicious: after 48 hours we still had a reasonable warm cup of coffee!
So this made us choose for the Shira to complete our coffee-kit
