David Pattyn

David is an anesthesist from ’s Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands. He has always had a special interest in nature and birds in particular. Wildlife photography started as a hobby but evolved into a real passion. He has been awarded in numerous nature photo competitions: GDT European Wildlife Photographer of the Year, Nature’s Best, Glanzlichter, Asferico, AFPAN, Memorial Maria Luisa and more. His pictures and articles have been published in calendars, books and magazines.

David likes to travel with his wife Charlotte to areas of outstanding natural beauty. He shares his passion for photography with his sons Jef and Louis. David has spent countless hours in self-made floating hides, photographing the intimate life of numerous species of water birds with a particular interest in grebes. To work with the inflatable hide of Mr Jan Gear opened up a new range of possibilities.
